Activities

Walking

Our surroundings are ideal for walking in the greenery among vineyards and olive groves. We are on the path of Saint Anthony of Padua which was for a long time in these places: the hermitage of Monte Paolo, where the Saint stayed in meditation is within walking distance. Along the walk you may enjoy a variety of birds, butterflies, flowers and, if you are lucky, cross roe deers, hares, pheasants and, at night, wild boars, foxes, badgers and porcupines. If you are interested, you may also look for shells and other fossils, a sign of ancient beaches and cliffs, of which the local stone is rich.

Cycling

Bicycle lovers may choose among many itineraries through a suggestive environment full of cultural and landscape heritage. Our hills are ideal for cycling, enjoying the sun and the magnificent views, along both paved roads in gentle slope, and dirt roads for the more experienced cyclists.

We provide free bicycles or mountain bikes and, on request, it is possible to rent e-bikes for guided tours.

Climbing

Very famous in the area and destination of many enthusiasts is the stone wall ‘spungone’ where it is possible to climb: you can also discover caves dug in the spungone, which hold shells and other fossils. Spungone is a type of calcareous rock made up of a mixture of seashells originating from marine deposits of the Middle Pliocene (about 3 millions years ago). http://www.laromagnadellospungone.it/en/the-spungone/

Visiting the neighbours

Some of the most interesting places of the Tuscan Romagna are located just a short driving distance (about 30 kms/20 miles): the medieval town of Portico di Romagna, San Benedetto in Alpe and Bocconi and also Rocca San Casciano with the annual Bonfire Feast (in April).

Lavender harvesting

Lavender harvesting is an occasion worth celebrating: the month of June is the ideal time to walk among the rows of lavender and pick fragrant fresh bouquets or take special photos.

Olive harvesting

Olive harvest: come and visit us in October! Picking the olives while enjoying the last rays of the sun of the season is a fun and satisfying experience. Nothing will be like tasting the newly -produced oil.

Just relaxing

It will be pleasant to relax under the century-old almond trees or in the shade of the large oak trees, reading a good book or just enjoying the scents of nature.
